Nottinghamshire Flutterings 27/06/2017 – Purple Hairstreak and Silver-washed Fritillary

Two  more species for the Notts year yesterday.

Purple Hairstreak, of which there were two records and Silver washed Fritillary.

Phil Lee managed to photograph a Purple Hairstreak at Misson Carr NR on Hogweed under Hawthorns (photo) and Stan Darling connected with another at Cotgrave Woods.

Also yesterday, Stan, Nick Crouch et al were lucky enough to get good views of a male Silver-washed Fritillary at Cotgrave Woods.

So that brings us up to 30 species for 2017.

What’s left for this year? I expect there will be several Clouded Yellow records to come. And, fingers crossed, Wall, Dark Green Fritillary and White Admiral might (just might) put in an appearance.

Over the last week I have received many many records  –  thanks to all. I aim to produce a summary at the end of the week.
